My Story of WHY

For 11 ½ years, I worked for Wildman Business Group.  I had known the family before I started there and knew that the owners always did “good stuff” with the money they made from the business.  They could’ve lived more extravagantly, but didn’t.  Nor did they ever want any recognition.

About 3 years into it, we were having a manager’s meeting and they wanted us to know where the money was going.  From drilling wells in Africa, to local charities, to an orphanage in Romania, it was pretty amazing.  I’ll never forget that “wow” moment though…

The healthcare, adoption rules, and society are vastly different in Romania.  Through the orphanage, they had found out about a critical situation.  Babies can be born at the hospital and the mom can just leave.  Leaving those babies abandoned.  With limited resources, the hospital would cart these babies into an abandoned wing of the hospital on Friday and lock the doors.  On Monday, they would open the doors and any surviving babies would be cared for that week until Friday or they were old enough to go to an orphanage.

The owners did something about it.  They funded nurses and supplies to care for those babies over the weekends.

Talk about picking up your jaw!!!  That’s when it clicked.  The mats and towels I sold were literally saving lives.   What I did everyday, impacted the world, not just my world.  I “felt” the effects of making a difference!   I can do the same thing now!!!
